FAQs

About Skinfix

What makes Skinfix different?

We know that when your skin’s not right, it affects everything—how you feel, how you connect, how you show up in the world. Behind Skinfix is a team of science-obsessed beauty veterans who wanted less frustration from their daily routines. We don't just wait for clear skin—we build at-home solutions that are clean, clinical, and always high-impact.

What does "clean" mean to Skinfix?

When we say clean, we mean avoiding ingredients that are well known to irritate the skin, cause allergies, or have been linked to environmental harm. Sometimes, we say even say no to ingredients that are safe, but known to clog pores or aggravate certain forms of acne. To us, being clean isn't about following a set of random rules—it’s based on input from our dermatologist community, recommendations from non-profit orgs like the National Eczema Association (NEA) or National Rosacea Society (NRS), and the latest research. We also know that what’s considered “clean” can change over time, so we keep reviewing and updating based on the latest science. Not every natural ingredient is good for your skin, and not every synthetic one is bad.

What does "clinical skincare" mean?

When we say "clinical," talking about products that are based on solid science—the kind of skincare professionals trust because it works. While non-clinical options might use just enough of an active ingredient to call out on a label, clinical formulas use them only at their proven, effective concentrations. In addition to being rigorously tested to ensure it delivers results, we also hold our skincare to high regulatory standards, with strict guidelines for quality and manufacturing.

Do you do clinical trials?

Yes, we do clinically test our products—and we go beyond the industry standard. We start with independent clinical testing in trusted U.S. labs, using both consumer studies and instrument-based testing to get real, measurable results. This means we not only ask unbiased participants how their skin looks and feels, but we also use specialized tools to measure things like hydration, barrier strength, elasticity, and radiance. Finally, our results are reviewed by dermatologists, who assess improvements in skin health over time. It's all part of making sure our products actually do what we say they do.

Where do you manufacture your products?

We manufacture our products in both the US and Canada. Our Ceramide + Ectoin Gentle Gel Cleanser, Foaming Oil Cleanser, Triple Lipid Lip Treatment, Triple Lipid-Peptide Lotion, AHA/BHA Renewing Cream, and Glycolic Renewing Scrub are made in the US. Everything else is made in Canada!

Product Safety & Expiry

What are your safety measures for sensitive skin?

We formulate without known irritants like fragrance, essential oils, or drying alcohols. Every formula goes through clinical testing for irritation (including RIPT testing, which screens for allergic or sensitizing reactions) and is reviewed by dermatologists. Because we take sensitivity and barrier health seriously, many of our formulas are also accepted by the National Eczema Association and the National Rosacea Society.

What is the expiration date or shelf life?

Our products have an unopened shelf life of 2–3 years, unless an expiration date is printed on the packaging. You’ll also find a small “open jar” symbol on the label, which indicates how long the product is good for after opening—usually either 6 months or 12 months, depending on the formula.

Rebrand

The product I received doesn’t look like the photos online. Is it old or expired?

Rest assured, it is not old or expired! We’re in the process of sharing a rebranding evolution, which will take some time to roll out. Part of our brand values is a meaningful commitment to reducing climate impacts, so it will take time for our new packaging to fully debut in our retail touchpoints and there will be a period where you find a mix of new & old packaging. We aim to minimize as much packaging waste as possible.

I noticed that the ingredients highlighted online & on the box are different. Did the formula change?

The formula has not changed! We’ve learned our community is interested in different ingredients in our products, and are highlighting them accordingly. We’re dedicated to helping educate our community on the benefits of clinical skincare, and want to make sure we’re meeting our consumers’ interests where they are!

I noticed that the box is different on my product– did the formula change?

We’re undergoing a rebrand, which will eventually impact all parts of the brand (i.e., our logo, outer packaging, product packaging, and more). It is a gradual process, so you’ll start to see parts of our new look at different points in the coming months. Our formulas have not changed, however – you'll still receive the same product you know and love.

Why can't I buy Triple Lipid-Hyaluronate Serum, Triple Lipid-Peptide Lotion, and Antioxidant Tetrapeptide Soothing Treatment on your website anymore?

We're in the process of reevaluating our product portfolio, and have made the difficult decision to phase these products out of production. We're no longer stocking them on Skinfix.com, as we have sold through, but do have existing stock on Amazon that is available for purchase. We do monitor and operate our presence on Amazon, and can verify that if you purchase from our Skinfix storefront, it is authentic. Alternatively, there is still stock on Sephora.com if you'd like to purchase there. Thank you again for your ongoing support.

Packaging & Sustainability

How do I recycle your packaging?

All Skinfix packaging is recyclable, but how you recycle it depends on the product—check the page of the product you're looking to recycle for more specific details. But as a good rule of thumb, paper and large plastic components can go in your home bin, and smaller items (under 3 inches) or pumps should be taken to a Pact Collective bin at Sephora. Just clean out what you can before recycling.

I see dark speckles on my packaging - what is that?

Those small specks are a natural result of using post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic in our packaging. At Skinfix, we're committed to sustainability and incorporate at least 30% PCR plastic into all our containers, often more. PCR plastic is created by collecting, cleaning, and melting down used plastics, giving them a second life. Because it's a blend of various recycled materials, you might notice tiny flecks or color variations, especially in lighter-colored packaging. Rest assured, these specks are harmless and don't affect the quality or safety of our products.

Vegan & Cruelty-Free

Are your products vegan?

Almost all of our products are vegan. The two exceptions are Antioxidant Tetrapeptide Soothing Treatment, which contains sustainably sourced honey, and 911 Ointment, which contains sustainably sourced beeswax.

Are your products cruelty-free?

Absolutely. All of our products are cruelty-free and certified by PETA.

How can your products be vegan if they contain cholesterol?

The cholesterol we use is plant-derived. It works like the cholesterol found naturally in skin, but comes from plants—not animals. It’s listed as “cholesterol” due to naming rules in cosmetics, but we promise it’s vegan!

Where do you source your vegan ingredients?

Our vegan ingredients are either sustainably harvested or biomimetic (lab-made to replicate nature). It’s part of our commitment to clean, effective skincare that’s kind to skin and the planet.
