  • Is it safe to use every day?

    Adapinoid Gel was developed to be gentle enough to be used every day, but we recommend working up to it—especially if you've never used a retinoid before. To start, use every other night; as skin acclimates, build up to nightly use.

  • Is it safe to use Adapinoid Gel in the morning?

    Using a retinoid product like Adapinoid Gel during the day is ok, but be sure to follow with your favourite sunscreen, as retinoid products can make you more sensitive to UV rays from the sun. It's important to wear SPF if you use it at night, too—but for morning use, it's critical.

  • Is this the same thing as retinol?

    The key ingredient in Adapinoid Gel—adapinoid—is a cousin of retinol. Both are vitamin A derivatives. Since retinol and adapinoid do similar things, there’s no need to use both—using them together could actually cause irritation without adding benefits.

  • Can I use Adapinoid Gel around my eyes?

    Adapinoid Gel can be used on the skin around the eyes, but direct contact with the eyes should be avoided. If the product accidentally comes into contact with your eyes, please rinse thoroughly with water.

  • Is this safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

    Our Adapinoid Gel wasn’t tested on people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and some doctors recommend limiting the use of retinoids during that time. We suggest checking with your doctor before adding this product to your routine.

Hormonal Acne post BC

"I've been dealing with awful and painful hormonal acne for a couple of years now since being on the implant birth control, Nexplanon(which come to find out is an Androgenic birth control). I finally got it removed after two years of all the terrible side effects I had endured. Will this help with hyperpigmentation?
Hi Kendra, Because retinoids encourage cell turnover—your skin’s natural process of shedding old, dead skin cells and replacing them with fresh, new ones—they can help brighten hyperpigmentation and post acne spots. Adapinoid Gel wasn't tested for brightening, but please keep us posted if you find that it helps! You can also try our 2% BHA Spot Treatment, which was developed to address post-acne marks.
Is adapinoid safe during pregnancy?
Our products are considered safe during pregnancy. However, some doctors suggest limited use of products with BHA's or AHA's (although most consider them safe). We would suggest checking with your doctor for their point of view on using products with BHA's and AHA's while pregnant and breast feeding. Is it ok to use the skinfix 2% BHA cleanser and then the adapanoid gel right after cleansing? Or should you use the BHA cleanser in the morning and use a milder cleanser without actives at night with the adapanoid gel?

Is this rosacea friendly?
